The Arc of Cumberland County recieved third place in the Outstanding Local Chapter. Award given by The Arc of Tennessee during their annual memebership meeting on Saturday May 31 , at the Tennessee Disability MegaConference held at the Nashvillle Airport Marriott.

The purpose of the Outstanding Local Chapter Award is to recognize excellence at the community level for affiliated Tennessee chapters of The Arc.

Chapters are measured on evidence of membership growth and manitenance efforts; raising the level of awareness within their community; creating and enhancing the opportunities and supports for people with disabilities in their area; have individual member and/or chapter involvement in governance at all three levels of participation (local,state and national); and chapter commitment to the mission and positions of The Arc.
